Dedication Day.png
The Hapeville Worry Rock was procured from a local quarry, moved to its spot next to the train station and ceremoniously dedicated on January 1st, 1938. A promotional photo was taken that day which shows J.R. Cathy, the Mayor of Hapeville and E.D. Rivers, the Governor of Georgia “worrying” upon the rock. During the first two weeks of January 1938, scores of national newspapers ran this photo in their dailies.
